Dr. Heller is a retired licensed psychologist whose career centered on child and family services, with a practice that reflected a broad range of interests including learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder in children and adults, marital therapy, gender issues, communication skills, career counseling, depression in children and adults, and parent training. Throughout his career, Dr. Heller wrote "ParenTalk," a column that appeared monthly in seven Suburban Press community newspapers, along with "Commentary" for the Massachusetts Psychological Association's Quarterly. He was also a frequent speaker on mental health topics, including corporate wellness workshops, and stayed active in community organizations. Dr. Heller retired in 2006 and has decided not to write any new articles. However, he is keeping the site open as a resource to interested parents and couples.
