two weeks ago I had a ectopic pregnancy after having a tubal ligation 9 years ago. My question is, is it possible to still be pregnant after this surgery because I still have all the symptoms that I had before.

if you feel that you are still pregnant, then you should go visit your doctor again. USUALLY, it takes several weeks for your body to lower the HCG levels in your body (which tells your body that you are preggers...it's the one that's responsible for all of the symptoms). I know when I miscarried, I went back every other week until my HCG hormone levels zeroed out. So, you may not actually be pregnant, but still have some HCG hormones left in your system which is causing the symptoms you are feeling.
However, you should definitely bring this up with your doctor...just in case.

*I answered this same question in another forum, but I'll repost here, just in case.* ;)
A pregnancy test will tell you if you are pregnant (the body won't differentiate between ectopic or uterine pregnancy). When an egg is fertilized, the body makes the HCG hormone to tell the body it's time to get ready for baby. So, yes, if you took a pregnancy test, if it's positive, you're preggers (BTW...there is no such thing as a false positive...only a false negative).
The chances of having an ectopic pregnancy after a ligation are slim...however, there is a slim chance (like 1%). Also, the odds are higher if you had an electrocoagulation form of ligation.
If your pregnancy test comes out negative, but you are still feeling the symptoms of pregnancy, then you are most likely too "newly preggers" for the test to tell. If you take multiple tests and they all come out negative and you are still having these symptoms, then definitely visit your doctor immediately and tell them your symptoms. But, either way, you'll need to go and have this resolved for your own health and safety.

Thank you for the info. I was pretty much in denial. every test i took was positive. I finally got scared enough and the pain was horrible so i took a blood test to confirm what I already knew. I caught it in time to take this new intervention they have where they give you a shot (I looked it up on the internet and asked my doctor about it)- used for cancer patients. It is supposed to stop the rapid growth of the cells. So i didn't have to have surgery to remove it. the shot sux...but better than surgery. I hope this never happens again...

Yes, I am finally getting over the after affects of the drug. Mostly my hair falling out. Not sure if that was the stress or the drug really. I will continue to post and look around.
