View Full Version : Learning can be fun for kids!

When my kids were little I tried to make up games that would help them learn while having fun. Now my granddaughters are enjoying the games. Here's a few suggestions:

When they were babies, I got a lot of floating animals. While in the tub I would sing a song about the animal, what it says (and make the sound), eats and feels like. As they got older they would start singing along with me.

While folding socks or towels (I usually had a lot of these), or anything else, we would count as we folded them. If you make it a singing game it makes it more fun.

After folding the socks, I would open the drawer and let them throw the socks in. We would count how many they each got in and The winner got to pick what we would have for dinner.

I took some old business cards and put words they were learning in school on the back. I would make a sentence, then let them make up a silly sentence.

I would put colored balls in the tub and have them count them, then take a couple away and have them tell me how many was left.

Each night I told them a bedtime story and they took turns picking out the book. I would read to them and make them find in the picture what I was talking about.

After they got older I would every now and then pretend I forgot what a word was and ask them what a it was.

Just a few ideas I thought I would share.
